Eight crews from all over South Africa faced off at the Blue Room at Jozi's Old Park Station - the culmination of months of hard work, preparation and perspiration.
It came down to the wire, and after going up against Cape Town's Ubuntu in the final, Artistic Intelligence were crowned the 2011 champions.
Well-respected local B-boy, Vouks Nojokes, commented: "First of all big ups to all of the crews for making it onto the Red Bull Beat Battle stage, that on its own is an achievement! The two finalists, Artistic Intelligence and Ubuntu came, danced and conquered as they truly represented what Red Bull Beat Battle is all about.
At the end of the day there can only be one winner.

Artistic Intelligence claim that winning Red Bull Beat Battle has made their somewhat testing 2011 into one of the best years that they've ever had "The thought of being the Beat Battle champs is crazy and we fought really hard for this title" said Tumi Trent of A.I.
2011 saw eight of the most talented dance crews in South Africa, specialising in genres ranging from Pantsula, iSbhujwa, Krump, Hip Hop and breaking, handpicked to showcase their talent in a closely fought final in Johannesburg.
This year we travelled to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth and auditioned 114 crews in the qualifying rounds to find the seven best crews that will go up against defending champions, Artistic Intelligence.
The eight crews will have to perfect their routines, making sure every movement is on beat and no foot is out of place. On May 26, they'll go up against each other in the ultimate dance-off at Bassline in Newtown, Johannesburg, for the title of Red Bull Beat Battle Champions 2012.
Artistic intelligence, Hlaks, Ninja Turtles, Phly Nation, Real Actions Juniors, Reptilez, Soulistic Fusion, V.I.N.T.A.G.E make up out Top 8 crews for 2012!

Red Bull Beat Battle Qualifier – Terms and Conditions:
- The Contest is open to all residents of South Africa excluding employees of Red Bull
- Company Limited ("Promoter"), their immediate families and/or any other person directly connected with the Contest.
- Entrants under the age of 16 years as of the Contest start date must have the consent of a parent or guardian
- Registration and entry must be made through the website: www.redbullbeatbattle.co.za or m.redbullbeatbattle.co.za
- The Red Bull Beat Battle winner will be chosen by a team of judges selected by the Promoter. The judge's decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into on this matter.
- The winning crew will be announced at the end of the final event.
- No purchase of Red Bull product is necessary to take part in this contest.
- The promoters reserve the right to exclude any entrant from the competition
- By taking part in the Contest all entrants agree that the Promoter shall be entitled to use each entrants name, biography, photograph, and image in any commercial exploitation of the Contest and upon the Promoters web site.
- The Promoter reserves the right to amend, alter or cancel the Contest without prior notice.
- Crews must have between 2 – 8 members. Crews with less than 2 or more than 8 members will not be able to perform.
- Routines must be no longer than 3 minutes.
- Registered crews will receive a unique crew code via SMS. Crews without a unique code will not be able to audition.
- Crews will not be able to register on the day.
- Entries will close 2 days prior to the qualifier.
